Intern Family Ties

Yesterday we were fortunate that one of our interns, Gracie Amburn, brought in some of her family’s collection so that we could preserve some pictures and share in their history. Her great-great uncle, Private First Class Ordway Perry (March 24, 1925), served in the Army and Army Air Force in WWII. He was raised in Shell Creek, Carter County, TN. He was a member of the 311th Infantry Regiment and the 78th Infantry Division. He is buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetary in Belgium. He died days before his 20th birthday on March 10th, 1945. We were able to look at several things Gracie brought in, including Perry’s two Purple Hearts. Thank you Gracie and the Amburn-Perry family for sharing this with us!
