upcoming Dec 4 AfterWars event

upcoming Dec 4 AfterWars event

November 25, 2013

The next event in our faculty research seminar on “AfterWars,” funded by the Humanities Initiative at UT, will take place on Dec. 4. The event will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 4 (Wed.), in the seminar space outside of the Center for the Study of War and Society in Hoskins Library on the second floor, where we will discuss Steve Ash’s new book, A Massacre in Memphis: The Race Riot that Shook the Nation One Year After the Civil War. This new book is uniquely oriented towards the overall topic of our AfterWars seminar — what happens after war — and thus promises to be especially fascinating. Moreover, our seminar colleagues (and core faculty members) Dr. Monica Black and Dr. Luke Harlow have agreed to offer some insights from their own readings of the book to kick off the discussion.
