Captain Mariner, lecturer and scholar in residence at CSWS, was recently a guest on NPR’s “On Point,” where she discussed the future of America’s military.
Upcoming Nov. 11 talk on Cold War Air Defense
At 4:00 p.m. on November 11, Dr. Michael Weaver will give a talk on “Nuclear Air Defense During the Cold War.” A UT grad, Dr. Weaver has published the book “Guard Wars: The 28th Infantry Division in World War II”, and teaches military history and international security to active-duty military officers at the U.S. Air Force Command and Staff College.

The first event of the semester in our Faculty Research Seminar on “AfterWars” will occur on Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. We will discuss an article-in-progress by Brad Nichols, graduate student in history.
Upcoming talks by Dr. Fasce of University of Genoa
On Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, Dr. Fasce of the University of Genoa will give guest talks on topics related to war, consumption, and advertizing. Both events will take place at 11:15 in Hodges Library, Room 212.

Two upcoming talks by Dr. Joachim Tauber
On April 24 and 25, Dr. Joachim Tauber will give talks on Hitler’s decision to attack the Soviet Union (24th) and on the Holocaust in Lithuania (25th). Both events will occur at 4 p.m. in Hoskins Library 217.

On April 18, 2013 in the UC Crest Room, Dr. Wilfred M. McClay will give a talk entitled “The Mirage of Innocence and the Mirror of Guilt: Confronting the Dilemmas of a Postwar Moral Economy.” Dr. McClay is the SunTrust Bank Chair of Excellence in Humanities and a Professor of History at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
