Community Outreach

Community outreach is integral to the Center’s ability to share our research with the public.  Our staff has conducted research on UTK students who served in the United States military and were killed in action.  This work contributed to the UTK Armed Forces Veteran Memorial on campus.  We researched, designed, and installed information boards on Tennessee military history with bios of our veterans in the Sharp’s Ridge Veterans Memorial Park in Knoxville, TN.  This installation represented the first time information on Tennessee veterans was installed in the Veterans Memorial Park since its inception in 1953.  And our staff has gone into local schools to work on public history projects that connect students with Tennessee veterans.
