Upcoming Nov. 11 talk on Cold War Air Defense

Upcoming Nov. 11 talk on Cold War Air Defense

October 31, 2013

On Monday, November 11, 2013, Dr. Michael Weaver will give a talk entitled “Nuclear Air Defense during the Cold War.” The event begins at 4:00 p.m. in the University Center Crest Room.

Dr. Michael Weaver is Associate Professor of History at the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College. He also is a UT grad, who worked with Dr. Charles Johnson in our History Department. Dr. Weaver teaches military history and international security to active-duty military officers. He recently published the book Guard Wars: The 28th Infantry Division in World War II (Indiana University Press, 2010), which investigates the relationship between the National Guard and U.S. Army by following the Pennsylvania National Guard’s 28th Infantry Division from peacetime to the battlefield. His wider research deals with the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War, and the use of air power during the Vietnam War.

The event is free and open to the general public.
