Guns and Chocolate: Military Security and Food Production After the Seven Years’ War
Dr. Christopher P. Magra is an Associate Professor of Early American history at the University of Tennessee. His prize-winning research explores the global dimensions of the American Revolution. He has two books out with Cambridge University Press: The Fisherman’s Cause: Atlantic Commerce and Maritime Dimensions of the American Revolution (2009); and Poseidon’s Curse: British Naval Impressment and Atlantic Origins of the American Revolution (2016). Today, he will be presenting new research for his third book. His talk will explain the relationship between the expansion of the British military during the Seven Years’ War and the increase in food production in North America.
