TN National Guard
The Army National Guard as a whole dates its inception to 1636 and the formation of the early colonial militias in Massachusetts. The Tennessee National Guard traces its birth to 1774 when Captain Evan Shelby organized and led a militia to assist Lord Dunmore with the Shawnee in Virginia.
