The Knoxville Veterans Legacy Program at University of Tennessee

The Knoxville Veterans Legacy Program at University of Tennessee

November 19, 2018

Our brief video documentary, “The Knoxville Veterans Legacy Program at University of Tennessee”, chronicles the work of the 2017-2018 Veterans Legacy Program in Knoxville, Tennessee, funded by a contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The Knoxville National Cemetery was established in the midst of the Civil War, and since then United States Veterans from every conflict and from every branch of service have been laid to rest there with honors. The documentary discusses the implementation of the program and the work done as a unique partnership between the University of Tennessee-Knoxville History Department, the UT Center for the Study of War and Society, the Knoxville History Project, the East Tennessee Historical Society, and Knox County K-12 schools. It also discusses the history of the Knoxville National Cemetery and a few examples of the heroes buried there.
