The Center for the Study of Tennesseans and War Wins Award!
The Center for the Study of Tennesseans and War won the Public History award from the Society for Military History! This annual award recognizes the contribution of public historians to the field of military history. The Center was selected based on last year’s contributions that included a model of public history practice that emphasized and highlighted the importance of military history to the general public. Such practices included interviewing veterans, the mapping project, and speaking engagements around East Tennessee, to name a few. This award’s criteria focused on the “doing” of public history. We are deeply honored to receive this award and thank the many volunteers, students, and military professionals we’ve worked with throughout the years. The Center will continue its mission to research, preserve, and share the stories of all the people in Tennessee who have been involved in wars between 1700 and the present day!
