Walter Thomas Malcolm Jr. (March 23, 1920 – July 10, 1944) was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee for Business Administration in 1942. He was in the Navy Reserve and assigned as an Ensign to the U.S. Navy Amphibious Corps operating in the Mediterranean in the European Theater. He was killed on July 10, 1943, near Licata in Sicily as the Allied forces began Operation Husky, which kicked off the Invasion of Sicily. Ensign Malcolm Jr. was part of the massive amphibious landings on the southern shores of Sicily. Ensign Walter Thomas Malcom Jr. is memorialized at Glenwood Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum in Bristol, Sullivan County, Tennessee.
