Walter Nathan Blaufeld Jr. (March 4, 1921 – Nov. 16, 1944) was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was in his first year as a student at the University of Tennessee for Business Administration in 1942 when he enlisted in the United States Army. He was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant before being deployed to the European Theater with the 120th Infantry Regiment in the 30th Infantry Division. 1st Lt. Blaufeld was killed in action on November 16, 1944 in Germany while the 30th Infantry Division was fighting to break through the Siegfried Line. He is buried at the New Jewish National Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
