  • Lieutenant Dossett was killed piloting U.S. Army Air Corps BT-13A (Basic Trainer) #42-88941 in a crash, a half mile north of Omeonta, Alabama, while on a training flight out of the Courtland Army Airfield.

Robert Lee Dossett Jr. (April 1, 1920 – Dec. 2, 1943) was from Tullahoma, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee in the College of Liberal Arts in 1939. He enlisted in the United States Army and conducted his basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Afterwards, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and began training as part of the Army Air Corps out of Courtland Army Airfield in Courland, Alabama. He was killed when his BT-13A training aircraft crashed outside of Omeonta, Alabama on December 2, 1943. He is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
