John Andrew Fine Jr. (Fed. 5, 1917 – Feb. 51, 1945) was from Knoxville, Tennessee and was a graduate of Knoxville High School. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in the Class of 1938-1939 in Engineering. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the 1st Armored Division out of Fort Knox, Kentucky. Though starting in the rank of Captain, he was made a Major at commanded the 751st Tank Battalion when the 1st Armored Division as part of the US 5th Army invaded Italy in 1943. Major Fine Jr. was killed in action while in Italy on February 21, 1945 and had earned five Battle Stars and the Purple Heart during the campaign. He was posthumously awarded by the Brazilian government their Medal of Honor for his additional role as their armored advisor in Italy. He is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
