James Peyton Dean (Feb. 8, 1915 – Nov. 19, 1943) was from Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in the Class of 1940  and attended the College of Medicine in 1941. Dean enlisted in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was killed while on board a large naval transport plane when it crashed outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for an unknown cause. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
