James J. Beene Jr (Feb. 18, 1921 – Oct. 14, 1943) was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee, 1940 -1941, for Business Administration. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in March 1943. He was being trained as a Lieutenant in the 57th Fighter Squadron when his P-51D suffered an accident and crashed near Bartow, Florida. He is buried at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
