James Allison Fannin (July 14, 1908 – Jan. 15, 1942) was born in Oklahoma. He attended the University of Tennessee’s College of Dentistry and graduated in 1935. He practiced in Memphis, Tennessee  before the war. He was training as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps when the war began and was killed when his plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Charles, Virginia.
