Ivan Alexander Andes (Oct. 20, 1906 – June 20, 1943) was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and was a graduate of Knoxville High School.  He was a member of the University of Tennessee’s Track and Field team and was locally known as an avid photographer. He graduated with a degree in Education in 1930. Andes enlisted in the Army Air Corps and trained at Fort Myers, Florida and Grenier Field, New Hampshire. He was deployed to the European Theater with the 330th Bomber Squadron in the 93rd Bomber Group as a tail gunner with the rank of corporal. He was flying out of England when was reported killed on June 20, 1943 from an unreleased cause. He is buried at Cambridge American Cemetery in Cambridge, England.
