George Samuel Ellis (1910-1944) was born on August 1910 in Milligan College, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Agriculture in 1934. At some point, Ellis moved to Beattyville, Kentucky. After the war started, Ellis was drafted into the Army and achieved the rank of colonel working with Patton’s 3rd Army, Pvt 317th Infantry, 80th Infantry Division. Ellis was killed in action on September 14, 1944 near Nancy, France.
