Lenoir Museum Book Talk

Lenoir Museum Book Talk

July 23, 2026

Michael Mlekodaj is the Curator of the Lenoir Museum at the Norris Dam State Park. He welcomed community members, history enthusiasts, and area readers on July 16, 2026 for a special book talk featuring Dr. Chris Magra. The event offered guests an engaging opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Magra about his new book on the military history of the Declaration of Independence.

During the program, Dr. Magra shared insights into the ideas behind his book and discussed the research process that informed it. Attendees heard about the historical questions that guided the project, the sources that helped bring the subject to life, and the importance of connecting the past to present-day conversations. His remarks provided both scholarly depth and broad public appeal, making the talk accessible to longtime history readers as well as first-time visitors.

The evening also gave audience members the chance to participate in discussion and ask questions, creating a lively exchange between Dr. Magra and the community. The conversation reflected the strong interest in public history programming and the value of events that bring authors, scholars, and local audiences together in meaningful ways.

The Lenoir Museum continues to serve as an important gathering place for educational and cultural events, and Dr. Magra’s visit was a memorable addition to its 2026 programming. Programs like this book talk highlight the museum’s ongoing commitment to fostering learning, dialogue, and appreciation for history.

Visitors who attended the event left with a deeper understanding of Dr. Magra’s work and of the power of historical storytelling.
