Invitation to a Roundtable on Apocalyptic Thought in Twentieth-Century Germany
Consider the powerful images conjured up by the words “apocalypse” and “end times”!
We begin our fall semester activities with a provocative and fascinating roundtable discussion with three scholars on the topic of Apocalypticism in Twentieth-Century Germany. Prof. Michael Meng of Clemson University will discuss the philosopher Carl Schmitt’s politics of violence. Prof. Monica Black of UT will present on popular apocalyptic thought in German society after the fall of Hitler. Dr. Jason Dawsey of UT will discuss Günther Anders and the limits of the apocalyptic imagination.
