Interview with Robert Chittum

Interview with Robert Chittum

May 4, 2023

The Center for the Study of Tennesseans & War was honored to have Robert Chittum in our office Thursday, May 4th, 2023, and have his story added to our Korean War Veterans collection. A native of Knoxville, Robert graduated from Knoxville High School in 1950, but had already signed up for the Marine Corps Reserve in 1949. He went into active duty after graduating and served as a tank driver through the end of the Korean War. After service, he attended the University of Tennessee for Mechanical Engineering. He then went to work for the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas while also working on a law degree. He went on to work as a lawyer for the Xerox Corporation before retiring and eventually moving back to Knoxville.
