Bill of Rights Talk
In preparation for Constitution Week, the Daughters of the American Revolution invited Dr. Chris Magra, Director of the Center for the Study of Tennesseans and War, to give a lecture on the history and enduring importance of the Bill of Rights.
Dr. Magra discussed the origins of the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, the debates that shaped their adoption, and the ways they continue to influence American life. His presentation offered a clear, engaging look at the rights and freedoms Americans often take for granted—from freedom of speech and religion to due process and protections for individual liberties.
Constitution Week, observed each year from September 17 through September 23, commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and encourages Americans to reflect on the principles of representative government and constitutional liberty.
