The Center for the Study of Tennesseans & War was delighted to have Kim DiDomenico in for an interview this morning. Originally from Illinois, but now calls East Tennessee home, DiDomenico served in the United States Army from 1987 to 1991. She did her basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina as one of the first female platoons trained there. She did advance training at Fort Lee, Virginia, specializing as an Equipment Records and Parts Specialist. She was stationed at Seneca Army Depot in New York, handling millions of dollars worth of equipment, and experiencing the mobilization of the Army during the Gulf War. Her story is a valuable new addition to our expanding Gulf War and Cold War veterans’ Stories Collection. Look for her video in our Digital Archive soon!
