About the Internship
Would you like hands-on experience with history while also earning class credit? And are you interested in military history? Would you like to learn more Tennessee history?
If so, then you may want to sign up for HIST 490! The Center’s HIST 490 offers you an undergraduate internship that combines education and job training. Interns learn how to do public history by engaging in activities that support the Center’s programming. You can choose a conflict you are interested in studying that involved people in Tennessee between 1700 and our present day. Interns then produce original, digital publications that will be showcased by the Center on its website for future academic and public research. Your family and friends will be able to see your work. And all of this experience will look great on your resume.
If you have questions, please email the Center Director, Dr. Magra, at cmagra@utk.edu.
If you would like to apply for an internship at the Center, then applications are due each year by May 6.
Submit the following materials by email to cmagra@utk.edu:
- Your name along with a brief explanation of why you are applying for the internship and a transcript of classes and grades earned (this can be a screenshot of your transcript).
- A very brief email recommendation from a UT faculty.
