Upcoming Lecture on the French Revolution
The University of Tennessee Center for the Study of War & Society and the Department of History present an AfterWars lecture titled:
“War and Society in the French Revolution”
On Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 4p.m. in the Humanities Center (Melrose Hall E102, First Floor Seminar Room) the Center will host a lecture by Dr. Jeremy Popkin. 
Personal Bio: Jeremy Popkin, the William T. Bryan Chair of history at the University of Kentucky, has published numerous books and articles on the French and Haitian Revolutions, including Revolutionary News: The Press in France, 1789-1799 (1990) and You Are All Free: The Haitian Revolution and the Abolition of Slavery (2010). He is currently completing a new general history of the French Revolution, to be published by Basic Books in 2019. In addition to these publications, he has received numerous fellowships, including the National Endowment for the Humanities Public scholar Fellowship, a National Humanities Center Fellowship, and John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. His book You are All Free won the prize for best book in French history from the American Historical Association and the Society for French Historical Studies.
